Chagall was a French painter with Jewish-Russian ancestry. In his work he concerned himself mainly with biblical themes and dream worlds, in which he created a timeless, poetical visual world. He had his first comprehensive retrospective in the Museum of Modern Art in New York In 1946. His work can be seen in the most prestigious and well known museums in the world.
