Howard Kanowitz

Howard Kanowitz was an American painter and graphic artist. After graduating from his Painting studies at the Rhode Island School of Design he worked for a time as Frank Kline’s assistant. His first solo exhibition was in New York in 1962. Since then his work has been shown in numerous international exhibitions such as the documenta V (1972), documenta VI (1977), or the Berliner Akademie der Künste in 1978. Since the beginning of the 1960s he has been considered one of the most important photorealist painters and photography is often a theme in his airbrush and pastel works, both in terms of format and content.
