Georges Braque

* 13th MAY 1882 IN ARGENTEUIL, DÉPARTEMENT VAL-D’OISE (F)
† 31st AUGUST 1963 IN PARIS (F)

After an early Fauvist period, the French painter and sculptor Georges Braque, along with Pablo Picasso, co-founded cubism. This artistic style dissolves the figurative central perspective, reduces and analyses the motif to basic geometric forms and places it back together from various view points. Braque’s key theme during his career was the still life. He was the first living artist to have his work displayed in the Louvre in 1961. Today his work is can be seen in the most important international museums.
